Stupid Moments

I'm having a few stupid moments lately. I like to think that it's because I've been preoccupied by taking care of my husband, the house, and trying to think about my own health. All I can say is, it's good to have a healthy sense of humor. See another stupid moment in a recent entry in my knitting blog.

We went to visit Doug's parents last weekend in Brainerd. After getting home, I got a message that I had forgotten the charger for my phone! Crud - and my phone was almost out of juice. I notified people via facebook & email that I didn't have a phone and to email me instead for a couple of days.

Today, the charger came in the mail. Yay - mother-in-law! I opened it up and stood there, speechless. This was the charger to Doug's phone. My charger was still in a bag I hadn't unpacked yet.

Yes, I spent 2 days without a phone for no good reason. All is well now, we both have our phone chargers.

And if you're wondering, his phone battery lasts a lot longer than mine.

Scene from My Living Room

"Hey honey, can you help me to put my loom together?"

"Yes, dear."

Sounds of a case unzipping, loom is pulled out. Rumaging for instructions. Pause. A puzzled pause.

"You know, I think this is already assembled!"

"Yeah, that's what I thought when I saw the youtube video you were watcing yesterday."

"You mean, I've been putting off starting to weave for no good reason?"

Smiles, shrugs. "What else do you want to do tonight?"

Almost Warped

Can you believe that I haven't had a chance to play with my new loom, yet? I'd like to get to it soon, but life is ultra busy lately. After Christmas, I had India to get ready for. When I got home, my dog was sick and we put him down. Then, hubby was sick and went through renal failure, we're now waiting for a transplant. I'm dealing with pre-diabetes and blood pressure. All these things take time to adjust to, but I just want to get warped!

Here's some great videos on youtube for my loom. Maybe you'll have time to look at them before I do.

Vacation - Day 4

I had planned today as my fun day. As if none of the other ones were.

  1. Went garage sailing - got lots of nice loot
  2. Met my triad for lunch
  3. Went to drug store, got cool napkins for the bag lunch and a prescription for you-know-who
  4. Went to yarn shop for, well, yarn. Fell in love with the yarn (pictured above) and promptly bought some and planned a new cardi. Never mind the other unfinished projects.
  5. Went to the grocery store and got stuff for lunches tomorrow
  6. started to pack
  7. prepped some food
  8. Went to small group
  9. Finished packing
  10. Finished food prep for tonight
I still need to paint my toes.

Vacation - day 3

In which I supported my husband and then rambled around the house.

What I did:
  • Woke up at 6:30am. I had forgotten that there was a 6:30am.
  • Went to Abbot for a few appointments for hubby's kidney transplant.
  • Had a late lunch at A Taste of India. The food wasn't as good as it was in India.
  • Surfed, caught up online
  • Cleaned bathroom
  • De-cluttered kitchen, organized papers (this is a lot of work btw because I'm a messy)
  • Planned out boxed lunches for weekend
  • Made dinner
  • Compiled a question list for weekend
  • Surfed while hubby programmed
Today is my last day of vacation at home. Tomorrow we start are annual Norman Women's weekend!

Vacation - Day 2

What I did today:

  • Took a shower (notice how the first thing I mention is padding my list of accomplishments?)
  • Joined 2 groups on ravelry - which are highly addicting
  • Went to lunch with staff - 2 hours!!
  • Re-arranged living room, took TV & stuff downstairs. Put the furniture back to the way it was before hubby came home from hospital
  • Picked up living room
  • Knit a few rows on my shawl
  • Picked up dining table (the clutter, not the actual table)
  • Panicked when I realized phone had died - found out I had 4 messages
  • Made dinner with hubby
  • Prayed for sister-in-law and her family situation
  • Tripped on a jacket lying on the floor, made my back sore
  • Washed dishes
  • Had a snack (this new diet stinks)
  • Went back to ravelry (told you the new groups were addicting)
  • Updated my blog
If you read between the lines...I really didn't do much other than knit and surf the net. Not very productive, but it was fun and relaxing! And hey, that's part of what I needed to do this week. I'm going to savor my low productivity and call it de-stressing.

Vacation - Day One

Yesterday was my first day on vacation, at home. I'm taking the week off to try to catch up with the housework, cooking and try to de-stress. So far, I have only accomplished one thing that I had planned - make dinner.

Here's what I did do:

  • Cut coupons & went grocery shopping
  • Made lunch - chicken salad sandwiches from scratch
  • Started a new blog - A Cheaper Shade of Green
  • Washed a lot of dishes
  • Made a double batch of food for dinner and froze half of it
  • Talked and prayed for a friend who is going through a life change decision
  • Spent time with my husband after dialysis
I really did do quite a bit yesterday, although I had wanted to get the house clean and cook 2 meals, that's all. But I have to let go of what I planned to do and rest on what I did. Otherwise I'll stress out on being behind or something.

Today I'm going to see how far I get on cleaning. I also have a lunch date added into the schedule that I didn't plan on earlier. So, que sera, sera!
