That Won't Fit in the RV

Oh no...did I do a Rip Van Winkle? Were you all waiting for me to wake up? So sorry, I must have snoozed past my alarm. Okay, seriously, I have been tired this week and haven't had time to blog. If I don't do it Sunday, it's hard to get back on track. I'll try not to make it a habit. Dreaming of something other than what my life is right now; traveling to different places, having a clean and organized home, house swapping, learning to cook Greek, foster care, spinning wheels, the list is endless. What I have been dreaming up is a new lifestyle. Imagine this. We (my husband and I) clean up our home, sell it, then buy a great RV and travel the country. This could work! Because he works at home, he doesn't need to be any one place. At the end of the year of rambling around, we come home, buy a plot of land, continue living in our RV unt...

The End of Socks

Socks in Progress at the Arabian Sea First, the sad news. I wasn't able to get together with the Zippy Pins people this last week, we are going to try again this week. I will post their interview after we can finally connect. Then, the happy news. I get to tell you about my most Courageous Knitting - ever! But before I tell you about that, I should mention why this post is entitled "The End of Socks." I've recently been grieving over two pairs of hand knit socks that have holes in them. Add to that, a little bit of tendonitis hanging on, and you have someone who doesn't want to do knitting on small needles. So I've decided - I'm just not going to knit socks anymore (at least for awhile). I get sad when my socks have holes, and I really don't want to fix them either. Storm Shawl Rising

I've been working a lot on a shawl that was started during the Women's Retreat. It's ironic that the shawl looks like a hurricane. See the difference? I thought that it was quite amusing that my knitterly result of the retreat is turning out to look like a big storm. A portent of stormy weather to come, a warning to take cover. I should have taken heed, because of the fallout that happened, but that's another story. I'm on the 3rd skein of the shawl and really need a 4th to make sure I get the border done with enough yarn to spare. Luckily, a couple people on ravelry have the yarn so I'm trading for a skein from someone else. This is my progress in a nutshell: Skein 1 - started for the women's retreat. Looked kind of weird, but I liked the yarn, liked the pattern. Skein 2 - wow, this is a great portable project! Great for emergency knitting in my car. Skein 3 - Hmm, going to need more yarn. Whoa, is this like, a hurricane?
